FAQ
What will be unique about Bliss?
Bliss Bouldering and Climbing Complex is a totally new experience for the Wichita Area.  We are a dedicated indoors-climbing gym, with top-rope, lead climbing, bouldering, and a training room.  Bliss is a contemporary, fun place to socialize and get in shape at the same time.  Routes are available that are easy enough for beginners who have never climbed, as well as difficult enough to challenge the most experienced of climbers, and will be changed on a regular basis so that no one is bored with the same old routes.

Our experienced staff offer training, coaching, youth climbing teams, competitions, conditioning, nutrition counseling, and a snack/coffee bar.  Our mezzanine will allow you to relax, hang with friends, or even catch up on your social networks while using our free WiFi, with great views of our climbing areas.

Bliss is also be available for special groups such as birthday parties, overnight stays, team building, school events, Boy Scout or Girl Scout troops, or even a very unique approach to your next business meeting.  Hey, we’ve even heard of similar gyms hosting after prom parties and weddings.  If you can dream it, we will try to accommodate it.

Who needs to complete a waiver?
Everyone who enters the climbing area must have a waiver on file regardless of whether you are climbing or not.  Anyone under 18 (eighteen) years of age must have this signed by a parent or legal guardian.  To save time, the waiver can be completed online here.

How old must a child be to be allowed to climb?  Is adult supervision required?
Only children 4 (four) years old and older are allowed to boulder and rope climb with an approved child harness.  Children under the age of 14 (fourteen) years old must also have adult supervision.

Do I need a reservation to climb?
NO!  Just come in during regular business hours and one of our knowledgeable staff will give you a quick orientation and the opportunity to use Bliss’s bouldering room or our auto-belay.  Then, when you are ready to step up to more technical and challenging climbs, you can sign up for one of our many belay classes and begin climbing on your own.

Do I need my own gear?
NO!  We rent harnesses, shoes, chalk bags and have snacks available for purchase.  Of course, you are welcome to bring your own equipment (provided it is in good working order) or stop by our well stocked pro-shop and purchase the latest and greatest.

Do you offer instruction?
YES!  We want you to become the best climber you can be, so we offer everything from beginner belay technique classes, to advanced movement classes, personal coaching, climbing teams, and more.  Inquire at our front desk about times and availability.

Is Climbing Safe?
A better question may be: ‘can I learn to climb safely?’  Climbing certainly does have risks, however Bliss Bouldering and Climbing Complex is dedicated to your safety as you navigate these dangers.  We make every effort to instruct our members and users in the proper use of safety equipment, to inspect our own equipment on a regular, scheduled basis, and to monitor the use of that equipment.  However, ultimately, your safety is your responsibility. If you ever have any concerns about safety or questions on technique, please ask one of our friendly, knowledgeable staff members.  We are here to serve you.

What are your hours and where are you located?
Bliss is open every day.  Follow this link for specific times.  We are located in North East Wichita just off Greenwich and 28th Street, east of Stryker Soccer Complex.  Follow this link for directions.

What is belaying?
Belaying is the act of taking up slack in a rope as a partner climbs in order to prevent the climber from hitting the floor as he or she climbs.  Bliss offers training in the proper technique of this very important skill.

What is an Auto-Belay?
Bliss has a number of auto-belays.  These allow a climber to climb without a partner.  The device slowly lowers the climber in the event of a fall.   All of our auto-belays are inspected regularly and factory certified on a scheduled basis.

What type of clothes should I wear?
Routes may be climbed with rental climbing shoes available in our gym, or you may bring your own rock climbing shoes. Shirts and shorts or pants should allow for ease of movement yet not be so loose so as to interfere with ropes, etc.  Sport shirts, gym shorts, or form fitting sport clothes work best.

How tall are your walls?
We have a variety of heights available. Our main room has 40 feet tall climbing walls for top-rope and lead.  Our bouldering area is 15 feet tall.
